News: Add me to the list!
News from other sources lighthouselady writes "I agree with the growing number of people in the Christian community who are making the case that Americans shouldn't elect Barack Obama as the next president of the United States. I find myself in the company of people like Bill Keller, James Dobson, former NFL player and pastor Dr. O'Neal Dozier, Dr. Gary Cass, and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, who all believe the Illinois senator would be a bad choice.

News: Rite of Passage Eve, November 24, 2007
News about your church seasongs writes "It is the weekend after Thanksgiving, and I am in great anticipation of our "Rite of Passage" Sunday.  I am so proud of the young people who are candidates for adulthood through their Bible study, Christian service, testimonies, community work, and mentor activities.  I feel the hand of God on all of this, and it gives me hope for the future Body of Christ.

I want to say "Thank you" to the youth who recognize the value of walking in this path. Thank you to the parents who have encouraged their young people through the process.  Thank you to the mentors for giving their time and their wisdom.  Thank you to those who have prayed and given hours of time to research a myriad of sources to form the Rite of Passage.  Much heart, wisdom, physical activity, personal finance, and effort have gone into this endeavor. Thank you to the Canyon Body for embracing this new adventure in Christ.  It is crucial to train up the next generation to be followers of Christ; and I am so blessed to be part of a community that understands and embraces this.

News: 2006 Christmas Thing
News about your church What is a "Thing"? Answers.com says, "An object or entity that is not or cannot be named specifically."  Well I can say specifically that the Christmas Thing is a "Thing."

The 2006 edition was held at Canyon Community Church for the first time.  It was usually held off site because of the sheer magnitude but the pastor said that we would bring it home this year so we did!  Many thanks to the technical support: Art, Chuck and the army that erected the lights and curtains for the event.  Deacons.  Ahh the deacons.  They are blessed by their hard work.  But that is not what makes the Christmas Thing special.  It is the brothers and sisters in Christ with their families coming together to laugh, ponder, and enjoy the acts and perfomances and, to eat desserts and fellowship . . .

Enjoy the photos.

We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity, but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results.--R.A. Torrey
