Lead, Learn, Love
Canyon Youth desires to see students: become confident and contagious followers of Jesus Christ in their homes, schools, and community; to enable youth to experience God on a personal and genuine level; and to see them embrace the Bible as a relevant and central part of their faith and lives.
Canyon Youth exists to:
LOVE others in deed and truth; be the LIGHT of Christ to those around us; LIVE as sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God; LEAD through service; and LEARN to have a personal and competent relationship with God.
Mission Statement Breakdown:
Love – Fellowship – Love others in service, honesty, sacrifice, humility, and forgiveness, just as Jesus did for us. It is our duty as followers of Christ to love others with the same passion and unconditional love that God has for all. We are to be a shining example of the two greatest commandments: to love God above all else and to love others as we love ourselves.
Light – Evangelism – Verbally and nonverbally spread the message of the gospel through our words, deeds, and faith. We must be willing to go wherever we are called, be it across the world or across the street.
Live – Worship – Live in such a way that God is honored not only by our words and songs, but also by our commitment to obey and live out His commands. We are to keep our bodies and minds pure, which are temples of the Holy Spirit.
Lead – Service/Ministry – We are to lead by the example set by our Savior, who was a servant-leader. We are to model Jesus by doing what he commands of us – putting others before ourselves, serving them in joy and humility – so that we may be examples of Jesus’ love.
Learn – Discipleship – Faith must not remain childish, it should grow. We are to seek a more intimate and transforming relationship with God. Becoming a disciple means digging in God’s word, admitting when we’re wrong, accepting and growing from correction, praying constantly, and pushing toward the goal of being as Christ-like as possible.
John 13:34-35 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
